Savage River XC Skiing

February 23, 2008 Leave a comment

This weekend’s activity was a cross country ski trip to Savage River Lodge in western Maryland.  Jared and I went last year and had a great time.  When we finally had a minor snow storm roll through last week, we knew this was likely our only chance this year to go.  The snow was a little thin and icy in places which made it challenging but we made the most of it.  Here are some pictures.

Skiing at Snowshoe

February 3, 2008 Leave a comment

A nice big group of Blue Ridge Mountain Rescue’s past and present headed up to Snowshoe this weekend for some skiing and snowboarding.  Saturday treated us to nice weather and ok conditions.  We were hoping to do some cross country skiing too but the recent warm weather meant there wasn’t enough natural snow.  After a day of skiing the rest of the weekend was spent eating, relaxing, playing games, sleeping, and hiding from the high winds and -20 windchill.  Also, Constance got a lot of studying done and taught Dan how to dance, despite their 3 foot height difference.  Lots of pictures here and a video here.
